Peyton loves to do crafts, and so do I. On a whim, we decided we wanted to use our surplus of toilet paper rolls (I save every single one). We used Pinterest to find some ideas and then tweaked what we found to use the supplies we had on hand.

We literally used toilet paper rolls, acrylic paint (which you can buy at Meijer or Walmart for about 70 cents), plain white printer paper, black construction paper, glue, and markers. So simple.

Peyton actually did most of it with very minimal help from me.

He painted the toilet paper rolls. One he painted red and the other white. While the paint was drying, we drew circles on the white paper and the black paper to make the tires. The white circles were just a little smaller. We worked together to cut those out because there were so many. He then glued the smaller white circles onto the larger black circles and put a black dot on the middle. He did that with all of them, and those were his tires.

This is where I came in the most…. making the seat! I used a knife to create a hole big enough to get scissors into in the middle of the toilet paper rolls. I then cut a half oval but instead of ripping out the flap of toilet paper roll that I cut, I folded it up so that it was a seat. Peyton then painted that.

He wanted to add “decals” to the car so he used markers and paper to create designs and numbers for his cars.

Once we made sure that the paint was all dry, Peyton glued on the tires and decals to his cars.

It really was that simple!! He loved how they turned out and was so excited to show them off.
